About Scratch

Scratch is a free, block-based visual programming language and online community created primarily for children aged 8 to 16.

You can access the platform directly or learn more through the Scratch Foundation.
Developed originally in 2007 by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, it is now maintained by the nonprofit Scratch Foundation.

How Scratch Works.
Users snap graphical programming blocks together like Lego bricks instead of typing complex text-based code. This removes syntax barriers.

Projects are built using a stage (the background or area where action happens), sprites (the characters or objects), scripts (the code blocks attached to characters), and a programming palette.

Creativity:
Users can create interactive animations, digital stories, music projects, and games.
